The Friends of Gallocanta Association is a naturalist organization which was created the 4th October, 2002 in coincidence with the World Migratory Bird Day. Its main objective is the conservation and sharing of the natural, cultural and environmental heritage of Gallocanta Lake. Besides, it supports local rural initiatives and cooperates with other associations.
From the beginning, the Friends of Gallocanta Association has carried out many activities providing positive benefits to local people.
The Association has participated in a variety of European Conferences about the common crane (Sweden, Hungary, Germany, Russia…). Moreover, it has collaborated in the ringing of common cranes with German and Swedish groups. This Association works voluntarily in the observation of ringed cranes since 1999, being the Spanish group with more sightings.
